When the King Rules in Favour

IMG_0085AOur Daughter-in-Law, Linda (pictured here with our son, Sam), is one of God’s great gifts in our lives.  Beautiful, intelligent, funny, energetic, and effervescent, she is also a committed follower of Jesus Christ.  We are blessed beyond measure to have her as part of our family.

Recently, Linda was declared by medical doctors to be completely healed of Pulmonary Hypertension ( abnormally high blood pressure in the arteries of the lungs).  Her amazing story is a shining example of what takes place when the King rules in favour of His people.  You don’t want to miss this!

In Her Own Words

Here is Linda’s story in her own words.

“If anyone needs proof of God’s existence and His intense, passionate, loving interest in our lives – take me as case study #1.

“In January of 2009, I was diagnosed with Pulmonary Hypertension – a lung disease that is a LIFE SENTENCE. You don’t get ‘better’ from it. You learn to live with it, taking different therapies to ‘manage’ it and receive psychotherapy for the emotional and mental health ramifications of living with PH.

“I was told in July of 2009 that Sam & I could never have children. The pressures in my lungs was so astronomically high, that, if we were to get pregnant, both the baby and I would die. We were under the strictest of Doctors orders to not get pregnant, and even had to double up on our birth controls to ensure there were no ‘accidents’. In order for the pressures to be brought down, the Specialists were prescribing me medication. However, even with the meds we were not to get pregnant because, though the meds bring down the pressures, the chemicals in the meds were toxic for my liver and extremely dangerous for the fetus – they cause severe birth defects. It was dangerous to the point that if we were to get pregnant while I was on this medication, they would preform a ‘therapeutic abortion’ because of the severity of the deformities. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t. In addition, I was told, based on the state of my lungs, the worst case scenario would be a lung transplant. Needless to say, I was in a state of shock, despair and hopelessness. But deep in my heart, I knew that I also believed in a living God, who loves me unconditionally, knows me intimately, and operates in the impossible! His still small voice inside my heart kept reminding me that where the Doctors end was where He began! At the end of the day, HE was my ultimate physician! So 2009, with my family and friends rallying around me in prayer, I began my journey of trust, faith and the greatest test of my belief in Him.

“At the end of 2010, I asked God to take me off the meds (death pills) completely, with the Doctors blessing. The very next month He answered my prayers. My Cardiologists, with the blessing of my PH Specialists, wanted to do tests on me WITHOUT the presence of medication. So I went off for 2 months.  They took the tests, were happy with the results and I never went back on the meds again. However, the pressures were still high enough that I had to be followed closely in case I needed to go back on the medication.

“Throughout this process, I experienced so many miracles – from never being able to run a block to running my first HALF MARATHON, to running a SECOND half marathon!  Doctors upon doctors were stunned with my progress – unable to explain how it was possible.

“Today, I stand before you as someone who the Doctors CANNOT explain, fathom, or understand! This is what they said, verbatim, “We have never seen such precipitatory fall of pressure without the aid of medication.” Just this morning they said, ‘We have never had a patient like you.  There are no studies that correlate with your experience.  You are very special. You are unique.’ The Pulmonary Hypertension Clinic officially said to me this morning, ‘We can’t explain it, but you do not have Pulmonary Hypertension anymore. We don’t need to follow you at this clinic anymore.’

“And when I asked about having babies? They said…

“AHHHHH!!! God is real! He lives, He loves, He cares and He HEALS!!! THANK YOU JESUS that because of your broken body, I am whole. Because you live, I’m alive. Because of you, I am free!!”

What Happened?

What took place here?  The King ruled in favour of His daughter.  The future stepped into the present.  Through Linda’s miracle we received a foretaste of that Day when resurrection will swallow up all weakness, illness, and death; that Day when our bodies will be made like His glorious body (Philippians 3:20 – 21).  This is one of the reasons we look forward with great anticipation to that time when we will be fully and forever living in the Reign.

Thank You, Jesus!

  1. I was diagnosed with PH in July of 2010 and am scared about the same things when it comes to having children. I’ve always wanted at least 4 and so far I have had a so called “miracle” recovery at how far my pressures have come down. The right side of my heart is back to normal and I hope to be completely off meds someday so I can have a chance like this! Wow! Just what I needed to hear! 🙂

    1. Haley,

I am so glad you were encouraged by Linda’s story. I cannot tell you how grateful we are to the Lord for this amazing miracle. I’m praying that the Lord will grant you a miracle as well. One look at your blog tells me you are indeed a phenomenal young lady with a bright future ahead of you! May Lord grant you every mercy as you continue your journey.

  2. I was recently diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary hypertension in December of 2013. I was in very bad shape when I was diagnosed. At my three month check up I had surprised my doctors with progress, and how quickly I had improved. I hope to continue to keep getting better and that my ipah can completely go away too. Thank you for sharing Linda’s story. It gives me up that it isn’t impossible~

  3. What an amazing testimnoy! Praise God! I was diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension in September 2013. My breathlessness had reached the point where I could barely walk and my husband was carrying me up the stairs. Having children was also out of the question, but right now as I am typing I am symptom free with a beautiful 6 month old baby sleeping in the next room. My faith journey continues as my pressures have recently increased again but I believe that God will demonstrate His awesome power through faith in my life. I am also blogging about my journey here https://goingwithgrace.wordpress.com/

      1. Hi Mac.

How is your daughter doing now? What an incredible story of hope. Really dealing with fear and a firm faith as we trust God for a miracle for my wife. Her pressures are sky high and she has stopped responding to her meds. Praying for the boldness and courage to trust God completely for a massive miracle so that he may get the glory and that our testimony of healed can be used as a ray of hope for others just as this testimony was for us.
Would love to be able to get in contact somehow.

      2. Hi Greg,

Linda continues to do amazingly well. It’s like the whole thing was just a bad dream. If we didn’t have the medical history to prove she actually had this condition, no one would ever believe it.

I’m sorry to hear about your wife. May the Lord hear your cry and grant you the miracle you so desperately need!

Linda and Sam are away on a trip at the moment. Once they return I will forward your email address to them.

Blessings to you, dear Brother. Keep looking up!

  4. Hi there. Wow I know that this testimony was posted a long while back but I stumbled upon it today ( thank God for that) my mom has pulmonary hypertension and she is starting treatment this week for it. My prayer is that the medication works but ultimately that God does a miracle like he has done for you.
