Let me begin by saying that I absolutely love the Bible. I have read it, pondered it, and preached it for almost 40 years. It is still as fresh and alive to me today as it was in the beginning.
While I have no problems with the Bible itself, I do have some issues with its formatting. I have to wonder if the chapters and verses are sometimes more of a hindrance than a help.
In order for reading the Bible to have an impact on our lives, we have to approach it from the standpoint of seeking the Lord. Approaching the Bible in this way will position us for the Lord to actually speak to us through the pages of Scripture. The purpose of this post is to help you hear God through the Bible. I learned this from my good friend, Mr. Wes Aarum, and it has been a tremendous benefit to my own life. It is now my pleasure to share it with you.
You would probably think I was kidding if I asked you, “Do you have the right equipment for an enjoyable Bible reading experience?” I mean, all you need to read the Bible is a Bible, right?
While there certainly is a point to that, many people do not make a regular habit of reading their Bibles because they frankly don’t enjoy it. The two most common reasons people do not enjoy reading their Bible is because they don’t understand what they are reading, and because they feel they don’t get anything out of it. I am happy to tell you that obtaining a few simple items can help make your Bible reading both enjoyable and enriching.
