Have you ever made an investment that didn’t turn out the way you thought it would? I bet most of us have at one time or another. The truth is we invest in things all the time. We invest in people, products, financial institutions, businesses, and the list goes on. Out of all the investments we make, we want to be absolutely certain that we are investing in that which endures.
The vast majority of western society cares a lot about how they appear to others. They want those around them to think they are smart, strong, handsome, pretty, competent, etc. It’s really no different in the Kingdom. We prefer people to think we are gifted, dedicated, knowledgeable, and the like. While all these things are good, there is one ingredient that is absolutely essential above them all. In fact, without this ingredient we are absolutely bankrupt.
When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Now go out where it is deeper, and let down your nets to catch some fish.”
“Master,” Simon replied, “we worked hard all last night and didn’t catch a thing. But if you say so, I’ll let the nets down again.” And this time their nets were so full of fish they began to tear! Luke 5:4 – 6 NLT
One word from the Lord changes everything. Simon and his partners (fishermen by trade) had done everything they could do in their own strength. Their results?
Yet by obeying one simple command from King Jesus, a command that made no sense to them, they experienced results beyond their wildest dreams.
What have you exhausted yourself on without seeing results? Why not stop your striving, look up, and listen to what the Lord has to say about it? Be sure to follow it through, even if it makes no sense at the moment. Obey Him and see what He does. That’s called living in the Reign.
This is the second post on receiving healing from Jesus. In the first post on this subject, I discussed the characters we see involved in the healing process found in James 5:14 – 15. In this post I will discuss the responsibilities of each of those characters.
In several recent posts I have been discussing the subject of divine healing. I wrote about how healing is a foretaste of the resurrection to come. I also showed you how the Holy Spirit is involved in the healing process. The role of faith was also considered. Now I would like to share with you how you can receive healing from the Lord.
