Living in the Reign?

14 After John was arrested, Jesus went to Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God: 15 “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!” Mark 1:14 – 15 CSB

Caught!

There are many times we can go along thinking we are doing pretty good in our walk with the Lord.  Then, all of a sudden, we are caught by a hidden sinful attitude that only the Lord could expose.  As embarrassing as it may be, I feel I am suppose to share a recent experience of mine.

Delight in the Lord

Delight yourself in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.  Psalm 37:4  ESV

Delighting in the Lord is holding a positive frame of mind toward everything God is, everything God does, and everything God commands.  Only one who approaches God with this frame of mind can ask what he will and see it done for him.

His mind will be in harmony with God’s mind.

His heart will be in tune with God’s heart.

He will do whatever God asks in response.

This one will be heard in the courts of Heaven.

This one will see Heaven released on Earth.

Answered prayer is one of the benefits of living in the Reign.

How Do We Process This?

A horrific tornado tore through the Oklahoma City suburb of Moore, Oklahoma, on the afternoon of May 20th.  The devastation was shocking to say the least.  Other communities have also been the targets of storms of varying degrees of intensity in recent days.  In light of these events, I thought it might be good to re-post an entry originally posted on December 18th, 2012, to help remind us how we as Kingdom people are to process these events.

Will It Ever Get Better?

Lunatics bomb innocent bystanders.  Children are slain in the streets.  Innocent girls are trafficked as sex slaves.  People live in fear of senseless random acts of violence.  Governments are unstable.  Economies fluctuate.  Sabers rattle.  Fingers point.  Households dissolve.  Morale is low.  Confidence is shaken.  Will it ever get any better?  Allow me to offer you some words of hope in the midst of the chaos.

Responding to the Kingdom

In  last week’s post we discussed the fact that the King used stories to illustrate what the Kingdom of God looks like as it is manifested in our time and space.  He did this to hide the truth from those who really didn’t care, and to preserve the truth for those who cared enough to press in to it and understand it.  In today’s post we want to discuss a very popular parable and see where we fit in the picture it portrays.
