Therefore, with your minds ready for action, be sober-minded and set your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. 1 Peter 1:13 CSB
Hope will keep a person going when nothing else will. A person without hope is merely existing. They shuffle through life without any sense of purpose or meaning. They will give up very quickly because there is no end toward which they are working.
This is why hope is an anchor for the soul. Hope will keep a person fixed and on course despite opposition. Hope is a hallmark characteristic of God’s people. They are convinced that their lives take on new meaning because of their relationship with the King. They also have the expectation of a new and brighter day ahead, and that they have a part in it.
A Positive Outlook
The sense of new meaning and the expectation of a better day combine to give God’s people a positive outlook regardless how dire their circumstances. Hope is the confident, expectant gaze of those who are living in the Reign.
