9 With the tongue we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse people who are made in God’s likeness. 10 Blessing and cursing come out of the same mouth. My brothers and sisters, these things should not be this way. James 3:9 – 10 CSB
Doing a Disservice
When we speak against another person, we are doing ourselves and everyone around us a disservice. When we think badly of another, we are partnering with the evil one whose very nature is to accuse. Is that really who we want to partner with?
Confession Time
Sometime back I spoke against a brother without hearing his side of the story. I spoke into a situation I really knew nothing about. I (once again!) thought the worst instead of thinking the best. Anyone out there want to join in the confession? Is that really the way we want to be?
Our Default Position
The Lord is calling us to walk higher than this. He is calling us to be living demonstrations of His righteousness, peace, and joy through the power of the Holy Spirit. In order to do that., love must be our default position. When love is our default position, our responses will always be in harmony with righteousness, peace and joy. This will set us apart and cause us to shine as lights in this darkened world of high-minded selfishness. Love is always the default position of those who are living in the Reign.
